Wagner Memorial Branch 526 of the Royal Canadian Legion's original charter was signed and sealed on July 23, 1951. The Teeterville Legion was organized by eight members of the Teeterville Veterans Association. It was initially known as Branch 526 of the Canadian Legion. Affiliated with the British Empire Service League, "Royal" was added to the title of all Legions shortly after Queen Elizabeth's coronation in 1953.
The Wagner name was added when Branch 526 was re-dedicated to honour the memory of Cpl. Harry Wagner, Pte. Ivan Wagner and Pte. Howard Wagner. The three Teeterville brothers died while in combat in Europe between July 18, 1944 and January 31, 1945. The Canadian Armed Forces deferred the service of a fourth brother--the late Jack Wagner--due to the heavy price his family had paid in the fight against fascism.
Branch 526 in recent years has become a hub of activity hosting a variety of events. Held on the first Sunday of February, March and April, a well-atttended Southern-style brunch is served in the hall. In mid May you may enjoy a perch dinner with all the fixins. Beginning in June, and running until September, outdoor chicken barbeques accompanied by Karaoke are held. They are well attended and everyone is welcome. Every Friday the 13th Branch 526 hosts a Wampus Kat chicken wing night. Another noteable event is the Froggy Friday dinner held in August. Yes folks come out and eat some frog legs! In October our Halloween dance is held ...shake your BOO-ty! November brings our Remembrance Day Service and our early Christmas Bazaar. Christmastime brings shoots and rafffles.
Come on out and see what our Legion has to offer!
